Dr. Tracy Wang from the Lewis-Peacock lab featured in Science News

Dr. Tracy Wang, a postdoc in the Lewis-Peacock lab, presented her work in a poster at the Cognitive Neuroscience Meeting and it was subsequently covered by Science News.  The poster, entitled “Forgetting is more work than remembering”, described Tracy’s work on the neural processes underlying forgetting.  By using fMRI imaging and a behavioral paradigm in which subjects were instructed to either intentionally forget, or remember,  certain images they viewed, Tracy revealed that active forgetting was associated with increased neural activity in certain areas of the brain compared to remembering.  These results demonstrate that intentional forgetting is not a passive process.
